
The Youth All Star Fall Festival Orchestra made its premiere on Sunday, November 17th at 6:30 pm in the Student Center Theatre of Weston Christian Academy. The forty-six piece orchestra is comprised of seven out of nine of the Youth All Star Chamber Music Groups-those at the Advanced to Intermediate level, and was conducted by YAS! Music Director, Dr. David Brubeck.
The Festival Orchestra program included Fiddle Faddle by Leroy Anderson, Belle of the Ball by Leroy Anderson and El Relicario by Jose Padilla. The orchestra played with vigor, refinement and great beauty, and was met with a unanimous standing ovation at the conclusion of their premiere.
Several YAS! chamber music groups were on hand to lend performances to the event as well. Franz Schubert’s String Quartet No. 14 (Death and the Maiden), movement one was performed by the YAS! Advanced String Quartet, The Ukrainian Bell Carol by M. Lentovich and Charpnetier’s Te Deum by the YAS! Advanced Brass Quintet, John Caponegro’s British Grenadiers by he YAS! Intermediate Strings as well as Calypso and Scott Joplin’s The Entertainer with the YAS! Cello Choir.
