The Youth All Star Brass and Youth All Star Strings enjoyed a magnificent launch of Into Africa, a resplendent exhibit by renown naturalist and photographer Frans Lanting.  The YAS! Brass were on hand to welcome patrons to “The Frank” Art Gallery as they entered the complex with the beautiful sounds of outdoor brass wafting through the cool Floridian sunset.  Pictured above with the eponymous Frank C. Ortis, mayor of Pembroke Pines,  and his wife Barbara. Once inside, guests were treated to an amazing visual feat of photographs accompanied by the elegant YAS! String Quartet and hors d’ oeuvres.  A later concert featured the pulsating rhythms of the West Broward African Drum Ensemble.  Kudos to Commissioner Castillo, the staff of “The Frank”, and our special guest string coach, Ms. Akiko Rivera.  (Is it just me, or is that little reptile flashing a bass clef??)
