Borodin Rocks! as Performed by the Youth All Star Strings

unnamed.jpgThese 7th, 8th & 9th graders, who are some of the finest student musicians in South Florida, meet most weeks to rehearse as part of the Youth All Star Strings, under the direction of noted Cellist and Teacher, Ms. Cornelia Brubeck.  The finest musicians who are also GREAT teachers in an average 1 to 6 ratio.  This is YAS! Youth All Star! “Excellent Music for Life!” tm

WE ARE REINVENTING YOUTH ORCHESTRA

The 2019- 2020 Season Will add four weekends and two concerts of Festival Orchestra, where the YAS! chamber music groups and guests come together to perform orchestral literature, in addition to their normal chamber music activities.

Audition Requirements:

Youth All Star Strings-Advanced; a three-octave scale on ‘G’ or ‘C’ concert, and a scale of your choice.  One prepared piece, or two short excerpts of pieces, which best demonstrate your ability.  There may be some sight-reading.

Silver Strings-Intermediate; a two-octave ‘D’ Major (concert) scale, another scale of your choice and a short piece which best demonstrate your ability on the instrument.

Chamber Strings; a one octave ‘D’ Major (concert) scale, another scale of your choice and a short piece which best demonstrate your ability on the instrument.

Youth All Star Cellos, Intermediate-Advanced; a two-octave ‘D’ Major (concert) scale, another scale of your choice and a short piece which best demonstrate your ability on the instrument.

Youth All Star Brass-Advanced; a two-octave scale on ‘F’ Major (concert pitch), and a scale of your choice.  One prepared piece, or two short excerpts of pieces, which demonstrate your ability. There may be some sight-reading. (Non Concert Pitch: Trumpets play ‘G’ Major, French Horns play ‘C ‘Major).

Silver Brass-Intermediate; a one-octave ‘Eb’ Major (concert pitch) scale, and a short piece, which best demonstrates your ability on the instrument. (Non Concert Pitch: Trumpets play ‘F’ Major, French Horns play ‘Bb’ Major).

Chamber Brass-Beginner;a one-octave ‘Bb’ Major (concert pitch) scale, and a short piece, which best demonstrates your ability on the instrument.  (Non Concert Pitch: Trumpets play ‘C’ Major, French Horns play ‘F’ Major).

Youth All Star Winds-Advanced; a two-octave ‘D’ Major (concert) scale, and a short piece, which best demonstrates your ability on the instrument. (Non Concert Pitch: Clarinets play ‘G’ Major, French Horns play ‘A ‘Major).

Youth All Star Saxophones-Intermediate Advanced; a ‘D’ Major Scale and a two octave scale of your choice.  One prepared piece, or two short excerpts of pieces, which best demonstrate your ability.  There may be some sight-reading.

String Quartets, Tuesdays 7:15-8:15 pm

Brass Ensemble, Mondays 7:15-8:15 pm

Woodwind Ensemble, Mondays 7:15-8:15 pm

Intermediate-Advanced

Cello Ensemble, Tuesdays 6:00-7:00 pm

Saxophone Quartet, Mondays 8:15-9:15 pm

Intermediate:

Silver String Quartet, Tuesdays 6:00-7:00 pm

Silver Brass, Tuesdays 7:15-8:15 pm

Flute Ensemble, Mondays 8:15-9:15 pm

Beginner:

Tuition for the season for those making a deposit by July 1st will be offered at a discounted rate of $300.00 for the season, with each additional sibling $250.00.  There will be a charge for additional ensembles, if more than one is selected.
