Samantha Venable Receives First Andrea Baerwald Trombone Scholarship for Youth All Star Brass

The following statements were prepared to be read by Davie Mayor, Judy Paul, at the Veteran’s Day Observance at Davie’s Veteran’s Park.

“The Youth All Star Brass performance today is dedicated to Andrea Baerwald, their beloved librarian, friend and mother of brass ensemble member Kim Morton. Andrea recently succumbed to cancer, but her loving and giving legacy is now represented by a full trombone scholarship to Youth All Star which has been named in her honor. Please recognize Samantha Venable as the first recipient of the Andrea Lindgren Youth All Star Trombone Scholarship.”

Andrea’s husband, John Morton, and several of her friends were on hand to honor her and her many contributions to South Florida student musicians.

“Today’s music is provided in part by YouthAllStar.org. whose motto is “Excellent Music for Life!’ They feature the finest young musicians from throughout Broward and Miami-Dade counties, and the serve the community through performances like these.  Dr. Brubeck and his brass group have served the town of Davie at our Veteran’s memorial since we began the ceremony.”
